Ormiston House is a grand federation mansion situated on the
shores of Macquarie Harbour at Strahan, Tasmania. With 5 luxury
en-suited rooms our guests are afforded a unique experience of
quality, service and hospitality. The township of Strahan is
located on the west coast of Tasmania beside a magnificent harbour
on the edge of the World Heritage Area of the Gordon and Franklin
Rivers. The area is well known for its breathtaking beauty and
majestic scenery.
Ormiston House is located on the Esplanade at Strahan with views
of the harbour amid landscaped gardens featuring magnificent
magnolia trees, camellias, azaleas, roses and rhododendrons. The
house has a bar and lounge featuring wine tasting of premium
Tasmanian wines and our cellar is stocked with Australian premium
reds. Complimentary afternoon tea is available for guests after
checking in.
Ormiston House was built by Frederick Ormiston Henry the founding
father of Strahan. Today our guests can relive the grandeur of a
bygone era. Peruse our history gallery with a fine wine in hand or
a gentle port to finish the evening off. We provide an office area
for guests to check their email, send a fax, make a phone call or
copy photos onto a cd from your camera. At Ormiston House your
needs and expectations can be met with professional, courteous and
friendly service.

Rooms
F.O.Henry
Named after Frederick Ormiston Henry this large room features an
en-suite with shower only. The bedroom has a queen size four
poster and the room has garden views. All rooms feature antiques,
remote central heating and cooling, remote colour TV, tea and
coffee making facilities. Laundry is a complementary service.
Christina
Christina is a beautiful room, also called the morning room as the
sun shines through the bay window after sunrise. Named after the
mother of F O Henry this room has water views and has a spa bath
in the bedroom rather than a separate ensuite...definitely a room
for lovers! A queen size bed and Laura Ashley fabrics give a
bright and airy feel to this room.
Jessie
A 2 bedroom suite with a large ensuite with claw foot bath and
shower. Atrium garden view from windows with temperate rainforest
ferns. Toile wallpaper with Georgian country garden scenes with
serene green fabrics and decor. As with all rooms we have some
lovely antique furniture.
Mary Alice
A beautiful Victorian room with antique four poster bed and
delightful period decor, wallpaper and fabrics. The federation
bathroom features a claw foot bath and shower. The window looks
out onto landscaped gardens and welcomes the morning sun.
Amelia
A lovely room with floral patterns and fabrics, Queen Anne
furniture and a large ensuite with claw foot bath. Garden views,
queen size bed and as with all rooms remote control air
conditioning and heating, remote TV and tea and coffee making
facilities.
