Open for business and showing real innovation in recovering from our sequence of earthquakes, while the inner city business area is still under deconstruction our city shopping has opened with the wonderful pop up mall with an eclectic and interesting range of stores from leading New Zealand fashion houses, Apple products, cafes, New Zealand crafts and gifts, the wonderful Scorpio Books and of course the iconic Johnsons the Grocers, great to wander around and see the spirit of our businesses and get a taste of what the future holds for the rebuilding of our great city. And of course Ballantynes department store has reopened and welcoming customers old and new.

For visitors the Botanic Gardens are looking lovely and a credit to all those who have worked hard to get them back in shape, Punting on the Avon is operating or take stroll under the trees along the banks of the River Avon. Our Canterbury Museum is open, our fabulous Art Gallery should open again in the new year, the Antarctic Centre and Willowbank and Kotane are all open. Local tours ranging through guided days away from the city, ballooning, harbour cruises, swimming with dolphins, TranzAlpine Train and Jet Boating are all available.

On the outskirts of town the wineries are open and local markets operating

Christchurch accommodation is available in a few city hotels plus those on the city fringe, a number of B&B's a couple of resorts, luxury lodges and first class motor inns, plenty of places to choose from.
