Ballymoney is a century old
farmhouse providing farmstay accommodation with modern amenities,
situated 20 minutes drive from Christchurch City and the Airport.
Set in two-acre rambling garden
on a quiet country road, the original part of the house features
native timber, open fires, and the rooms are individually
decorated with antique furniture and original artwork.
Relax in spacious surroundings
and enjoy Kiwi/Irish hospitality, with seasonal cuisine prepared
using homegrown meat, vegetables, fruit and nuts. There are
masses of animals including many rare breeds. Dexter cattle,
Dorset Horn and Gotland Pelt sheep, and Saddleback pigs. Also
featured is a Ponui Island donkey. Domestic animals at Ballymoney
include Mabel a fox terrier, Baxter the golden retriever, and
Kipper the cat.
There is a quince walkway
through to a pond, also a knot garden, and there are various
pergolas and summerhouses around the extensive gardens.
The three guest bedrooms are
individually decorated and feature quality Irish linen and damask
bed linen. All have tea/coffee making facilities, heating,
hairdryers, toiletries, bathrobes, heated towel rails, and the
en-suite rooms have a stocked fridge and TV. A cot and a roll-away
bed are available on request.
Inside the house is the Manuka
suite, with a king/twin bed and ensuite bathroom with shower with
French doors opening on to a private veranda.
Adjoining is the smaller 'Rata
Room' with a double bed, and private bathroom with bath and
shower.
The 'Kowhai Studio' is separated
from the house by a brick courtyard, and overlooks the spa pool.
It has a Queen and Single bed with an en-suite bathroom with
shower.
Ballymoney is ideally situated
for day trips to Akaroa and Bank Peninsula providing accommodation
in a peaceful country setting.
