Adventures are specialists in family/small group trips rafting
and kayaking the upper reaches of the famous Shotover River,
Queenstown, New Zealand.
Family Adventures will drive
you through Skipper Canyon, a truly spectacular, awe inspiring
road. Once off the main
road and following the old gold mining trail there
are excellent photo opportunities as you travel further into the
backcountry, winding along the cliff face 100m above the
Shotover River in places.
Family Adventures supply all
equipment needed. Wetsuit boots to protect your feet,
wetsuit or over pants, spray jacket with sealed collar and cuffs
to help keep the water out, a buoyancy aid (both warm and great
for rapid swims) and finally a helmet to finish off the outfit
so you can do all this....

All equipment is independently audited and meets Maritime New
Zealand code of compliance rule 80 part B.

We take to the water at the put in point made famous as “The
Ford of Bruinen” in the Lord of the Rings and head down the
grade 2 rapids in either guided rafts or inflatable kayaks*.
See gold mining relics and sheer canyon walls as we navigate the
Shotover river, with photo stops, rapid swims and rock jumps.
*Inflatable kayaks available subject to river conditions and
client suitability.
Family Adventures applies
child rate to anyone accompanied by their parent regardless of
age. Minimum age 3, maximum age 103 (older by arrangement).
