Pencarrow is located on 4 acres
overlooking Queenstown's Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables. This
home has been designed with the guest in mind. You will be
surrounded by comfort whether you are in the guest areas or your
private suite. Offering guests a gracious and relaxing
atmosphere and the very best in personal and friendly, yet
unobtrusive, service.
Pencarrow is named after New
Zealand's first lighthouse -the lighthouse has long been the
symbol of warmth and safety at journey's end.
Indoor guest areas include the
"Snooker Room" featuring a full sized historic English snooker
table and dartboard. Curl up in the "New River Lounge and Bar"
with open fireplace, large picture windows, and majestic views of
the Remarkable mountain range and Lake Wakatipu. Enjoy a country
breakfast in the cozy "Dining Room" with antique fireplace and
floor to ceiling bay window. From the wine cellar there is a
selection of fine local and international wines for sale.
Outdoor facilities include
outdoor fireplace, decks and patios for relaxation and views.
Terraced gardens with picnic tables in Pencarrow's private
Battery Hill Park.
Each beautifully appointed suite has a
sitting room, writing desk with house stationery, magazines and
books for guest perusal, mini bar, tea and coffee facilities,
biscuits, fresh flowers, remote controlled Sky (cable) television,
remote controlled VCR and Stereo/CD systems, direct-dial phones,
and iron/ironing board. The beds are king and super king sized. In
addition, each down stair suite has a queen sized sofa sleeper.
Fall asleep on top of a lamb's wool electric underlay or under an
all season wool comforter. Each suite is equipped with a 'guest
service guide' filled with every bit of information on Pencarrow,
Queenstown, Battery Hill, activities, and necessities.
En-suites are equipped with an
oversized jet spa bath, a separate shower, double vanity, heated
towel rail, under-tile heating, hair dryer, slippers, and guest
amenity basket. You will find both terry cloth robes and colona
robes with 30% wool for those cooler days and some of the world's
finest toiletries.
THE SUITES
Southern Cross Suite
The Southern Cross is bright and cheery with a bit of a botanical
feel. Lie in bed and watch the sun set on the Remarkables. With
private balcony and half turret sitting room with window seating
you can feel very at one with nature. It is a perfect spot to sit
and watch the native Bellbirds and Tuis. There are stunning views
of everything-the Remarkables, Lake Wakatipu, Cecil and Walter
Peak, Battery Hill Park, and Pondering Point.

Silver Fern Suite
The Silver Fern Suite is where the original homestead began due to
the fact that it is perfectly perched at the top of the hill
overlooking Tui Creek and Lake Wakatipu.
Enjoy a refreshing drink on your private stone patio surrounded by
native punga (tree ferns). Surrounded by the Hazel-N-Rose garden
the suite has large picture windows looking out to Lake Wakatipu
and the Remarkable Mountains.

Wakatipu Gold Suite
This suite has a bit of a rustic lodge theme. With private access
and a personal spiral staircase to the main house, this suite is
the epitome of privacy! Have breakfast on the deck right outside
your double doors surrounded by the Hazel-N-Rose garden. Watch as
native nectar eating birds land at trees and feeders all around
you.

Lighthouse Suite
The Lighthouse Suite has a British attic theme with a full turret
and stunning views of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables. Make a
cup of tea and enjoy peaceful hours in the sitting room.
Watch the sunrise on Cecil Peak or the sunset on the Remarkables.
