Terrace Downs Resort and Golf Course

Terrace Downs Resort offers in-house and casual visitors a unique one-stop New Zealand getaway destination located just twenty minutes from the Mt Hutt access road and within an easy hour's scenic drive of Christchurch International Airport. Perched on the edge of the spectacular Rakaia River, the Resort boasts stunning views up to Mt Hutt and is within close proximity to various ski fields.

Catering to guests of all ages the resort features deluxe one-to-four bedroom accommodation, three on-site dining options and together with a selection of resort-operated leisure and adventure activities to choose from, Terrace Downs makes for an exciting and memorable day trip in to Canterbury's High Country; an all-seasons leisure weekend retreat, and offers the ultimate conference, team building and wedding venue. Resort activities include an 18-hole championship golf course, spa treatments in The Spa, jet boating, on-site horse treks, clay pigeon shooting course, archery range through to salmon and trout fishing off our beautiful river shores!

Accommodation

Terrace Downs offers a choice of two deluxe accommodation options.

Terrace Villa Suites

Terrace Villa Suites are self-contained units with luxurious beds, a delightful raised spa bath and spacious open-plan living areas. There are 34 Villa Suites in the accommodation pool ranging from one to three bedroom suites.

The Terrace Villa Suites provide the option of one, two and three bedroom apartments and are designed to complement the regional landscape. All suites provide an open plan lounge and dining area, gas fire, fully equipped kitchen and private balcony or patio to enjoy the incomparable views across the beautifully manicured golf course and up to the Southern Alps.

The Villa Suites boast luxurious California king-split beds, feather bedding and a raised double spa bath in the main en-suite bathroom. The two and three bedroom villas each have a second bathroom with a spacious shower

All suites include:
DVD player, Sky television, CD stereo system, mini-bar, internet connectivity, direct dial telephones with in-dial facility, undercover car parking/garage, full kitchen and laundry facilities and daily servicing.

Fairway Chalets

Fairway Chalets are separate architecturally designed three to four bedroom houses spread out amongst the front nine holes of the golf course. These beautiful chalets boast all modern conveniences and great indoor-outdoor living areas with stunning views over the golf course to Mt Hutt.

Located along the front nine fairways of the Terrace Downs Golf Course, these spacious three to four bedroom homes sleep six to eight guests, offer a minimum of two full bathrooms and are fully furnished with all modern conveniences. Each architecturally designed house features an open plan lounge and dining room with a gas fire, along with a fully equipped kitchen, laundry and double garage.

The Chalets offer the ultimate luxury hideaway and make the most of the unique setting with indoor/outdoor living areas and panoramic views of the golf course and surrounding mountains

The Chalets include:

With its stunning location, friendly and efficient staff and sumptuous cuisine, the Clubhouse at Terrace Downs offers the ultimate dining experience in a choice of three on-site restaurants.

Tilley's Bar & Brasserie/Cafe
Serves a wide range of meals in a casual environment, ranging from antipasto platters and soup to larger grilled meals and pastas.

Avoca Fine Dining
Features award winning cuisine and is known for a range of delectable entrees, mains and desserts and a service level to satisfy even the most discerning guest.

The Grill
Is an exciting addition to Terrace Downs Resort, specialising in outdoor cuisine complete with a specialised Wood fired oven.

If you love adventure and want an adrenalin surge jump aboard our Discovery Jet and blast along the Rakaia River. Experience all the thrills of a jet boat ride with 360-degree turns and soak up the beautiful surroundings.

Put your hand-eye co-ordination to the test with clay bird shooting and archery. With only minimal instruction you’ll be hitting claybirds out of the sky in no time and shooting an arrow almost as straight and true as the legendary William Tell.

With some of New Zealand’s most amazing countryside on its door step,there is no shortage of places to explore at Terrace Downs and whether you chose to do it by foot, bike or horse-back we guarantee it will bea memorable experience.

Journey into remote areas for some special time alone where there is little to disturb you but the roar of the river or the rustle of the trees in the wind.

Hike along the river terraces and explore the abandoned coal mines or clamber up the scrub-covered hills for alluring views of the braided Rakaia River as it winds its way to the West Coast through stunning cliffs carved out millions of years ago.

Test your golfing skills on the Terrace Downs championship 18-hole golf course or play tennis on the sheltered courts.

Go game hunting in the high country wilderness. Our experienced guides use 4WDs, quad bikes, jet boats and helicopters to give you access to thousands of acres of untamed land and can tailor-make a safari foryou, whether you’re an avid rifle or bow hunting enthusiast or acomplete beginner.

Or fish the Rakaia River and catch yourself some of the region’s legendary trout and salmon.

In winter the skifields are in close proximity away and with Terrace Downs new heli-taxi service you will be skiing the slopes in record time.
