Waipoua Lodge Waipoua Forest New Zealand

Waipoua Lodge is nestled on a ridge overlooking the mighty Waipoua Forest, the gateway to two wonders of the natural world - New Zealand's largest kauri forest sanctuary; home to 'Tane Mahuta', New Zealand's largest kauri tree, and the crystal clear Kai Iwi Lakes. Few places in this world are so breathtaking and deserted - yet so accessible, less than three hours from Auckland.

The kauri villa has accommodated guests since 1890 and has recently been carefully restored by it's owners Nicole and Chris, retaining it's history and character.

Relax in the lounge by the open fire, in the sunroom library, or choose a wine from the bar to enjoy on the deck overlooking the three acres of gardens. Comfort-lovers can surrender to a massage, while nature's experiences will fill your day. At night the Milky Way and night skies can be seen like nowhere else, as you fall asleep in the huge soft beds to the sound of our little native owls and rare kiwi.

Dinner is prepared by our chef, and served at a time of your choice in the dining room, from organic produce grown in our garden, premium natural meats and accompanied by notable New Zealand wines.

Four luxuriously appointed and newly designed apartments, overlooking the forest, are housed in the historic farm buildings. Tile bathrooms, private lounges, en suites, king beds, robes, CDs and quality linen are yours to enjoy. The landscaped gardens, filled with birdsong, lead to a native bush walk at the bottom of the garden.
