Kaikoura New Zealand
This coastal town
enjoys a spectacular position between the Pacific Ocean and the dramatic
peaks of the Kaikoura Ranges. Many visitors are attracted by the opportunity
to take a Whale Watch Tour by boat, or for an airborne view
of the Whales you can take a 'Wings over Whales' flight. Whales are
attracted to this area by food laden currents that wash through deep
ocean trenches located not far from the coastline. Dolphins and seals
are abundant and swimming with dolphins is another great way
to appreciate the amazing wildlife.
The town has most
services including bank, post office, dining and of course accommodation,
also a railway station as it is located on the Coastal Pacific line
that runs between Picton and Christchurch. Not surprisingly seafood
is a local specialty, with the feature dish being Crayfish (a form
of rock lobster).
